Phenalkamines exhibit excellent chemical resistance to a variety of chemicals due to its aromatic ring and high crosslinking density. The combination of chemical resistance and excellent adhesion to concrete provided by phenalkamines, protects coatings from being damaged by chemical spills or leaks in environments as encountered in factories, platforms, and warehouses. The hydrophobicity of phenalkamines coupled with fast cure allow floor primers to quickly develop strong bonds to dry, damp, oily and green concrete. Concrete requires 28 days to fully cure, but primers based on some phenalkamines can develop adhesion with concrete sooner. However, adhesion tests need to be done on each system to determine coating earliest application time.
